Aardman Digital Launches Brand New Virtual Wonderland - WebbliWorld

WebbliWorld, the new digital environment created by Aardman Digital, is now live and users can enjoy the first stage of what will be a continually expanding virtual world of fun, environmentally friendly and above all, whacky, experiences for children aged 5-11 years. WebbliWorld, the brainchild of Camilla Whitby and Justine Maunder, both of whom have extensive media backgrounds, has been three years in the making. WebbliWorld is an extraordinary virtual world that draws on the expertise of Aardman’s ability as animators and the resources of children’s video library, KidMango.

Children can enter www.WebbliWorld.com by creating a Webbli avatar – choosing hair, clothing, facial features, colour – and launching it into WebbliWorld. Each avatar arrives at its own WebbliPod, their very own home to decorate, tend the garden and entertain their Webbli buddies. Users can move through WebbliWorld, walking from room to room or teleporting through tubes. Children can meet and safe-chat with other Webblis or interact with WebbliWorld characters such as Wanda the Roving Reporter, Wez the Extreme Explorer and Wij the Scientific Superbrain.

The recently-launched division of Aardman Animations, Aardman Digital, has created WebbliWorld as an animated area where Webblis can discover hidden animations by searching their surroundings. Moving around WebbliWorld children can use their avatar to play games in the WebbliArcade, watch films and cartoons in the WebbliDrome and for the prudent there’s the WebbliBank to monitor your savings in Webbles, the in-world currency. Users earn Webbles by logging in, commenting on videos in the WebbliDrome and rating other Webblis. The Webbles they earn can be spent on outfitting their Webbli avatar or decorating and renovating their WebbliPod.

In explaining why they chose Aardman to bring their concept to life, WebbliWorld’s Justine Maunder said: "Aardman has an unparalleled track record in creating characters that we all know and love and we wanted WebbliWorld to be fun as well as a relevant learning experience - a place where parents would be happy to have their children spend time and a place where kids are happy to hang out."

WebbliWorld goes beyond the merely entertaining and is also an instructive place for children. Wij the Scientific Superbrain has a Polar Peril game that encourages users to convert energy wasting habits to environmentally friendly ones, users’ WebbliPods can be converted to wind turbine or solar power and users are reminded to turn off their lights before they leave the WebbliPod.

WebbliWorld offers fun in a safe and educational virtual wonderland that is unlike any other children’s virtual world.
