After studying physics at Durham University, Dougal started his career at The Leith Agency, Edinburgh, as a copywriter before deciding to move to London and start directing.
Since then he's directed commercials for Orange, Olympus, Becks, Vodaphone, The BBC, JCPenney, Coca-Cola and Amnesty International. He received D&AD Pencils in 2006 for his Orange Dance spot for Mother and again in 2008 for Big Yellow Storage through CHI.
His music videos gain equal amounts of recognition, Dougal has won Best Music Video Director at the British CADS twice and The Best Video of the Year at The Rushes Soho Shorts Festival also twice.
His video for Bat For Lashes won the Best Video of 2007 at the Antville Music Video Awards and was nominated for MTV Best video award. His recent Goldfrapp video was nominated for a D&AD pencil this year. Other music videos include Coldplay,The Streets, Basement Jaxx, Benny Benassi and Jarvis Cocker to name a few.
