tantrum goes pitchside with McDonald's and Leo Burnett

02 April 2012

Leo Burnett have joined forces with tantrum director, Richard Tindall, to create this charming 20" spot for McDonald's who sponsor grassroots football up and down the country.  It's the first in a series of three to be aired in the coming months on Channel 5. Key to the heart of the campaign was using real people and locations, kicking off with Hampstead FC.

Shot on their home pitches and on this occasion on a typically rainy Saturday morning we see girls from the U10 & U11 teams along with their dedicated coach, Diane. Tindall has managed to tune into the atmosphere of Saturday and Sunday league football teams with a natural look and feel to the spot whilst also tapping into the enthusiasm and dedication of the girls involved. The lead girl brings a smile to the face as she delivers with surprising confidence her post match views on her way back to the changing room - the words could be those of an adult football commentator if the voice and image didn't belie it - priceless.  This captures something you only get from kids today who are growing up fast and ready not just to play the game but to talk it too.

Beautifully graded by George at MPC and an end frame that really adds to the mood of the film, this spot is a great start for a truly heart warming campaign.
