Whether you’ve lost your trunks at sea, eat lentils for breakfast or buy music from quiff-yielding tone-deaf twins, Phones 4U want you to upgrade with them. This comedic new spot from adam&eve and Director Guy Manwaring (Sonny London) demonstrates that just about anybody qualifies for an upgrade, even Dean Gaffney off the telly.
Jason Watts (Flame Artist) comments that it was working from a helicopter that provided the most challenges for him, “the priority is to get the talent on camera, so you shoot the talent first in the best light and then do the helicopter shots after. Lining them up to work with ground shots is always a bit of a challenge. You are dealing with continuity issues and weather constraints”.
Alaric Holberton (3D Artist at Finish) adds that “the difference in scene scale from the whole planet to street level was tricky. We used a combination of real (guide) satellite imagery and plates that had been shot at different focal lengths and angles”.
It’s worth noting that the viewer goes from space to street level in a heady “under four seconds!”. He further comments that he “had to build a street in Tenby” in order to make all the angles match smoothly.

Victoria Keenan, Producer at adam&eve says that the experience was “amazing, really lovely and so glad that we were working with a post-house that Guy was so comfortable with, as it’s so important to get the best creative. I’ve had a great time working here and will definitely be coming back!”
As for the project as a whole, she comments “It’s such a rare treat in this industry to work on something where everyone is having so much fun!”.
So whether you smell of fish, are under house-arrest or like to keep a lot of cats, you know who you need to call for an up-grade.
